I love Cathedral Rock in Sedona. You can hike on the Oak Creek Canyon side or you can hike from the other side which is a pretty steep hike. I didn't make it all the way up as my shoes were slipping and sliding.

You can go for the scenery or the serenity. There are picnic tables there by Oak Creek. The photography opportunities are wonderful. Go in the morning as the sun is beginning to come up and then you can take a number of pictures catching different moods.
